Alaska Black Bear Hunt
Have you ever dreamed about going back in time and visiting the
world as it was when it was first created? A world full of primeval
landscapes and beautiful vistas that give the feeling of being almost
surreal! High mountains with jagged peaks that seem to drop right
into the Sea. Mountains which are surrounded by an eternal ice field
that fold around the peaks like a comforting blanket. Rivers of
ice that break away and snake their way to the Ocean to create walls
of ice that tower high into the air. Imagine this primitive setting
as you look out across the Inlet and feel the chill come up your
spine as you witness a Bore Tide with a 6 foot wall of water
racing up the tidal flats. Look beyond into the Aleutian Mountain
Range and see the steam rising from one of a number of volcanoes.
A land that is full of hundreds of thousands of sea birds, and an
abundance of fish, mammals, and animals. Streams and rivers that
are so overflowing with Salmon, returning to spawn, that
it seems that you could cross to the other side by walking on their
backs. An ocean filled with a variety of Whales, Seals, Sea Lions,
Walrus, Porpoises, Sea Otters and hundreds of species of fish,
including the monster Halibut that can weigh well over 500 pounds.
A land blessed with a variety of animals such as Dall
Sheep, Black Bear, Brown Bear, Mountain
Goats, Moose,
and Caribou.
If you can imagine a land like this at the beginning of time, then
you can transport yourself forward in time to today's Alaska
and experience these exact same conditions. It is in this environment
in which an outstanding opportunity is offered for an Alaska
Black Bear Hunt. Nothing can compare with a Black Bear hunt
on the Coast of Alaska from an Ocean Going Hunting Vessel.
The scenery is primeval and spectacular and the Black Bears large
and abundant. It is the ultimate Black Bear hunting experience!
Your
Alaska
Black Bear Hunt is conducted aboard a Ocean going Vessel.
There are separate bunks and you will enjoy hot and cold running
water, a head, and lots of hot water to allow showers after an exhilarating
day of hunting. The boat is operated by a captain licensed by the
US Coast Guard and is outfitted with top of the line life saving
and navigation equipment which is regularly inspected by the USCG.
You can have an exhilarating day of hunting and even get rained
on during your stalk, but at the end of the day you know you can
get a hot shower and have clean dry clothes. Then you'll lean back
with a drink in your hand and look out through picture glass windows
at some of the most awesome scenery the World has to offer, while
waiting for a dinner to be served that is fit for a king. We serve
New York Steaks, Crab, sea foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, nice
desserts, and plenty of snacks and beverages. A cruise hunt for
Alaska Black Bear offers the ultimate experience in Alaska
Trophy Hunting. On a 5 day hunting cruise one should see
between 20 and 40 Black Bear. Your Alaska Black Bear Hunt normally
starts near Valdez when you are flown by air charter from Anchorage
to the hunting boat.
In
the Spring, during the month of May, the bears have just come out
of their dens and are spending a good deal of time looking for something
to eat. They generally have to settle for the grass that grows near
the beach which is what makes this hunt so relaxing. We use the
smaller skiffs to explore the smaller coves and the heads of many
Bays where the Black Bear can be found munching of the new grass.
If you prefer you can spend your time with a cup of coffee in one
hand looking through the picture windows at the beaches and the
grassy slopes for the raven black critters. When one is spotted
that is judged to be large enough, and meets the requirements for
a successful stalk, the skiff is taken to the beach and the stalk
begins. These hunts are as close to 100% successful as hunts can
be. Generally, the few hunters that do not take a bear have either
passed on a good bear, looking for a monster, or have not been able
to put their bear down when they had a good opportunity, and there
are generally several opportunities. In the Fall, the hunt is again
concentrated on the beaches but this time near the Salmon streams.
This is the best time for a bow hunter as one can often get
some very close shots. It is quite a thrill to watch these big Black
Bear fish for Salmon. After success with the Black Bear it is time
to do some fishing for Halibut, and some of these fish have been
known to be bigger than the Black Bear.
When
you consider the hunt location on the wild and primeval Coastline
of Alaska, the daily spectacular scenic beauty, the abundance of
animals, sea birds and marine life, the large numbers of trophy
sized Black Bear, and the quality of service and comfort offered
on a Hunting Vessel, this Alaska
Black Bear Hunt will be remembered as one of your most outstanding
hunting experiences!
